The Environment Department has continued its anti-smog guns operation across Lahore, deploying the machinery at pollution hotspots on the basis of air pollution monitoring readings and ground conditions.The operation is being conducted under the supervision of Director General Environment Abdullah Nayyar Sheikh on the directions of Punjab Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb.Mr Sheikh said the department was using a data-driven approach to deploy anti-smog guns at locations where pollution levels required immediate attention.He said field teams were monitoring conditions across the city and ensuring that the machinery was moved to areas identified as pollution hotspots.He said the operation was part of the department\u2019s efforts to control dust and particulate matter during the smog season. \u201cThe deployment of anti-smog guns is being linked with field monitoring so that the available machinery can be utilised where it is most needed,\u201d he said.According to the department, anti-smog guns are being deployed on a priority basis in areas where higher pollution readings are recorded, particularly at locations with elevated PM10 (Particulate Matter 10) levels. The machinery is being used to suppress dust particles on roads and surrounding areas and limit their dispersion.Member Operations and departmental focal person Sajid Bashir said the deployment was not restricted to any particular location and was being adjusted according to monitoring readings and the prevailing situation.He said field teams were continuously assessing different areas and shifting the machinery where required to address pollution hotspots.On Oct 23, anti-smog guns were operated at Quaid-e-Azam Campus, Bahkewal, Muslim Town, Maulana Shaukat Ali Road, Gulberg, Stedex Complex, Doctor Hospital, Main Multan Road, Jail Road in Jinnah Town, Pasco Society, Defence Chowk, Arfa Software Technology Park, NLC Complex, Aiwan-e-Iqbal, Shahrah-e-Quaid-e-Azam, Ghazi Road, UET on GT Road, DHA Phase 1, Kamahan Station, Haji Camp, Shalimar Bagh, Chuhang Police Centre, Data Darbar Road, LUMS University in Phase 2, Dera Gujjar, Lahore Junction in Swami Nagar, Metro Bus Station near General Hospital, DHA Phase 5, Bhatti Chowk, Bedian Road and Allama Iqbal Road.The operation also covered Karim Park, Kasur Road in Block M Gulberg, Lidher Hospital on Bedian Road, Safari Park, Dogra Kalan, Egerton Road, Ravi Road, PKLI Hospital, Shahdara, Grand Trunk Road in Shahdara, Kahna Nau, Wagah Border, Bajwa Hospital, Kahna Nau Hospital, Jati Umra, McLeod Road near Anarkali Bazaar, Governor House on Mall Road, Shahdara Town Railway Station, Barki Road in Phase 7, Amarkot on Multan Road, Kot Gujra on Multan Road, Jail Road at G.O.R opposite Services Hospital, Shahdara Teaching Hospital, Traffic Police Lines at Gopi Rai, Green City on Barki Road, Jallo More, the Main Building on Samsani Road, Noor Jahan Road in Gulberg, Paragon City on Barki Road, Kahna Ghalamandi, the area near Larex Colony in Shahdara, Zahoor Elahi Road, GT Road, Main Boulevard Gulberg, Dera Maharaj Din on Samsani Road, Nursery Road in Askari 5 and Kahna Kacha.The department said the operation would continue across Lahore, with the deployment of anti-smog guns being adjusted according to monitoring readings and field requirements.Mr Sheikh said the department would continue strengthening field operations and deploying available resources in areas where they could help reduce dust and particulate matter.
