The Suthra Punjab Agency Lahore (SPAL) anti-littering squad is actively working in the field on the directions of LWMC Chief Executive Officer Sheryar Arif Khan to maintain cleanliness across the city. The anti-littering squad is conducting regular patrols and awareness activities on major roads and in commercial markets across Lahore. As part of effective cleanliness measures, the anti-littering squad has inspected more than 18,000 hotspot areas during the current month. Over 1,500 shopkeepers have been issued e-challan warning notices for violating cleanliness regulations. Moreover, complaints and FIRs have been registered against those involved in illegal dumping and waste burning at more than 10 areas, including LDA City, Wapda Town and Nawab Town. To maintain cleanliness across the city, the anti-littering squad conducted patrols in Islampura, Mozang, Jain Mandir Bank Road, Sanda Road and Temple Road. Cleanliness awareness activities were also carried out in commercial markets along Khayaban-e-Jinnah, Ring Road, Firdous Chowk and Farrukhabad. The anti-littering squad also delivered cleanliness awareness messages at Outfall Road, Band Road, Sagian, Shahdara Mor and Phool Mandi. CEO LWMC Sheryar Arif Khan stated that the anti-littering squad is continuously monitoring cleanliness standards across all towns of Lahore. He said that anti-littering squad members are performing duties in day and night shifts to promote the message of Suthra Punjab. He further stated that awareness activities are being conducted in commercial markets to discourage shopkeepers from throwing waste outside their shops. Shopkeepers are being directed to place dustbins outside their shops and informed about legal action and fines for littering. CEO Sheryar Arif Khan added that the main objective of the anti-littering squad’s activities is to encourage citizens and the business community to play an active role in maintaining cleanliness across Lahore.
