Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced to issue special cards for flood victims, as she launched a flood survey campaign in Punjab, by digitally inaugurating survey portal in a special ceremony at Alhamra Culture Complex. She personally administered oath to survey teams, called them sons and daughters of Punjab, and her eyes, ears, hands and arms. She said,”Those who are selected to serve the suffering humanity are lucky, and will fully fulfill their promise to stand by the people of Punjab. They will spare no effort to fulfill with sincerity the responsibility that has been placed on their shoulders.” She added that those who carried out relief operations were frontline soldiers, and those who became a source of hope in the merciless flood waters and storms were the lucky ones.

She noted that survey teams are not going to collect data to estimate losses of flood victims but to perform an act of worship.Chief Minister Punjab saluted AC Pattoki Furqan Ahmed and PDM officer Abdul Rehman who embraced martyrdom during the flood. She noted that people from other provinces say that they wish they were in Punjab too. She said that there was no magic wand, as fortunately, most of the time, Pakistan Muslim League (N) had been in power in Punjab. She said,”I thank Pir Pagara Sahib who said that flood had been dealt with in Punjab in a good manner.” She added that survey teams would include representatives from revenue, agriculture, livestock, district administration and Pak Army. She vowed to compensate for every loss of the people, a complete estimate has to be made and a complete compensation has to be made. Every loss of houses, agricultural land and livestock has to be assessed.Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that arrangements are being made for accommodation and food of the flood victims in winter. The flood was a terrible sight. Such a flood had never come in the history of Pakistan. I congratulate Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Provincial Ministers Khawaja Salman Rafiq, Khawaja Imran Nazir, Kazim Ali Pirzada, Sohaib Ahmed Bharat, Rana Sikandar Hayat and Azma Zahid Bukhari for their untiring efforts to look after rescue and relief operations in the flood-hit areas. She added that the flood broke historical records. They carried out the largest evacuation, rescue and relief operation in history. They considered flood victims as their guests, fed millions of people on the table, and provided food and milk to children besides fodder for the cattle. She underscored that Punjab is the first province to transport 2 million animals to safe places, as our service was not only for humans, but also for the animals. She said,”Punjab took care of every life, be it human or animal, I am proud to be a Punjabi, as rescuers kept bringing pets out with their chests.” She flagged that Punjab is moving forward, establishing new traditions of success. She urged upon the people of other provinces to work on their people instead of spending time on criticizing Punjab, so that their people could benefit.
