Waste will be used as a resource instead of a problem, Zeeshan Rafique

Minister for Local Government Zeeshan Rafique has directed to put forward the model of China and Japan in “Suthra Punjab” waste to energy phase saying that waste will be used as a resource instead of considering it a problem. He was speaking during a meeting of Suthra Punjab Authority held at the Civil Secretariat.

Secretary Local Government Shakeel Ahmed Mian, Special Secretaries Asia Gul, Arshad Baig, Director General Suthra Punjab Authority Babar Sahib Din and Additional Secretary Ahmer Kaifi also attended the meeting.

The meeting also reviewed the next ‘waste to value’ phase of Suthra Punjab. The provincial minister, while issuing necessary instructions to the newly formed Suthra Punjab Authority, said that discussions with Suzuki Company for the production of biofuel from waste are progressing. He observed that the shifting of administrative supervision from division to district level under the authority will bring good results. "Now an agency is being established in every district under the Suthra Punjab Authority”, he added. The Minister expressed happiness that the world is looking at Suthra Punjab as a unique model. "The recent report of the Gulf newspaper is another honour for the Suthra Punjab network. Earlier, Forbes, Bloomberg, BBC have also been declared Suthra Punjab a game changer”, he figured out.Zeeshan Rafique said that in just a few months, the world’s largest sanitation system was established in Punjab. "Alhamdulillah, he went on, "under the patronage of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Suthra Punjab is becoming stronger day by day. Our heads are lifted with pride with the recognition of the success of the Chief Minister’s vision”. He further noted that establishment of the authority at the provincial level will facilitate the decision-making process and effective provision of facilities to the public.
