Gilgit : Secretary Communication & Works Mr. Sibtain Ahmed has directed the Chief Engineers of Gilgit Division, Baltistan Division and Diamer-Astore Division to immediately repair and rehabilitate the roads leading to popular tourist destinations in Gilgit-Baltistan. The roads, including Skardu-Deosai Road, Naltar Road, and Fairy Meadows Road Chilas, have been deemed to be in a deplorable and dangerous condition, posing a significant inconvenience and hazard to tourists.
The Secretary has issued directives to employ all necessary resources to repair and rehabilitate these roads, and to prepare estimates for funds required for their complete repair and rehabilitation. The authorities have also been directed to identify other tourist destinations with roads in similar condition and prepare a list with estimates for repair and rehabilitation.
The Government recognizes the importance of tourism in Gilgit-Baltistan and is committed to ensuring the safety and convenience of tourists. This urgent action demonstrates the Government’s commitment to addressing the concerns of tourists and promoting tourism in the region.
Progress on the repair and rehabilitation work will be reviewed on a weekly basis to ensure swift completion.
