In preparation for Eid-ul-Adha, The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has intensified its sanitation efforts across 6 major cattle markets set up by the district administration in Lahore.

Following the directives of LWMC CEO Babar Sahib Din, a comprehensive cleaning operation is underway at Shahpur Kanjran, Sagiyan, Raiwind, Kahna, Paragon, and Adda Rakh Chabeel cattle markets. The cleaning operations are being carried out in three shifts to maintain a clean environment for both sellers and buyers. More than 50 sanitation workers, supported by over 23 cleaning machines, are deployed at the sites. Daily waste collection and disposal are being managed using 11 arm rolls, 6 pickups, and 6 loaders. Additionally, 30 handcarts and 35 waste containers have been installed around the markets for efficient waste management. Water bowsers are also being used to sprinkle water at the entry and exit points to control dust. To promote public awareness, special LWMC camps have been set up at the markets. These camps are not only distributing environment-friendly waste bags for sacrificial remains but also educating sellers and the public about proper waste disposal practices. CEO Babar Sahib Din emphasized that providing a clean and healthy environment for the residents of Lahore during Eid-ul-Adha is the top priority. He urged sellers to dispose of leftover fodder and green waste in designated bins. Citizens can report cleanliness-related complaints by calling the LWMC helpline at 1139 or by contacting the company through social media platforms.
