UN Resident Coordinator Praises Balochistan’s Digital Health Transformation During High-Level Visit

Quetta, Balochistan – Mr. Muhammed Yahya, United Nations Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in Pakistan, expressed strong appreciation for the ongoing digitalization of the health system in Balochistan and extended congratulations to Dr. Ghulam Farooq Hoth, Director General Health Services (DGHS), Balochistan, for the province’s remarkable progress in this area.

The commendation came during a recent high-level visit by senior UN officials to the Directorate General Health Services office, where the delegation reviewed advancements in the Balochistan Health Management Information System (BHMIS) and related digital platforms.

Mr. Yahya highlighted the significance of these initiatives in strengthening health system governance, enabling real-time data-driven decision-making, and improving service delivery across the province—particularly in remote and underserved areas. He congratulated Dr. Ghulam Farooq Hoth and the entire health department team on their dedication and achievements in modernizing the health sector through technology.

The visit underscored the United Nations’ continued support for Pakistan’s provincial health reforms and the collaborative efforts between the Government of Balochistan and international partners to build resilient, inclusive, and efficient health systems.

This recognition aligns with Balochistan’s broader push toward digital health governance, including full implementation of tools such as DHIS2, AI FRAMS, HRMIS, and integrated complaint and pharmacy modules, positioning the province as a model for digital innovation in health management.
