A delegation from the European Investment Bank (EIB), comprising Mr. Edvardas Bumsteinas (Head of Division, Asia, Central Asia & the Pacific – Public Sector Operations, International Partners Department) and Mr. Marco Arena (Loan Officer, Public Sector Operations, Asia, Central Asia & the Pacific), held a meeting with Syed Zahid Aziz, Managing Director, PMDFC, at the PMDFC office.
During the meeting, the EIB team discussed potential investment opportunities in the water supply, sewerage, and stormwater drainage (WatSan) sectors for smaller cities in Punjab that currently fall outside the Government of Punjab’s Annual Development Programme (ADP) and are not receiving financial support from development partners such as the World Bank or ADB.The European Investment Bank expressed its intention to invest approximately USD 100 million in improving sewerage and drainage infrastructure in these underserved cities. The delegation appreciated PMDFC’s technical expertise and operational capacity in managing large-scale WatSan projects and expressed confidence in partnering with PMDFC for this initiative.Adnan Nisar, General Manager (Engineering), PMDFC, and Syed Amir Mahmood Shah, Manager GIS, also participated in the meeting and briefed the delegation on PMDFC’s ongoing interventions, technical capabilities, and municipal infrastructure development experience across Punjab.On this occasion, Syed Zahid Aziz, MD PMDFC, welcomed the proposed partnership and assured full cooperation.

He emphasized that, in line with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Government of Punjab is committed to improving municipal service delivery and expanding quality municipal infrastructure to benefit citizens across all cities of the province.
