On 14-02-2026, the Lahore Chapter of MFP organized a seminar in Lahore titled “Scope of the Upcoming Punjab Local Government Elections 2026.”We were honored to host Barrister Muneen Uddin Qasmi, Advocate, Supreme Court of Pakistan and a leading expert on the Local Government Act 2025, as the keynote speaker. He delivered a comprehensive analysis of the evolving legal framework, institutional structure, and emerging dimensions of the new local government system in Punjab.
Ms. Komal Ishaq Sahiba, Assistant Commissioner, Election Commission of Pakistan Lahore, graced the seminar as Guest Speaker and shared valuable insights regarding the electoral process, administrative mechanisms, and the commitment of the ECP to ensuring transparent, fair, and inclusive elections.Mr. Yasir Talib and Nasir William also shared perspectives on expanding democratic space and strengthening opportunities for minority representation in Punjab’s local governance structure, emphasizing inclusive participation and equal political empowerment.The seminar concluded with a constructive dialogue on strengthening grassroots democracy and promoting meaningful representation of marginalized communities in the forthcoming local government elections.
