In line with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif for safe, well-regulated, and responsible construction practices, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has introduced strict safety measures for construction sites during the monsoon season. On the directions of Secretary Housing Punjab Noor-ul-Amin Mengal, a complete ban has been imposed on all new excavation activities until August 15, 2026, to safeguard human lives, property, and public infrastructure during the rainy season.According to the Housing Department spokesperson, LDA has made it mandatory for all construction projects, including basement excavations, to ensure proper shoring, retaining walls, structural stability, and all necessary safety arrangements. All construction sites must strictly comply with engineering safety standards to minimize risks during monsoon rains. The spokesperson further stated that all architects, structural engineers, and resident engineers have been directed to submit safety certificates for their respective construction sites to the LDA within three days. He directed all stakeholders to ensure the protection of adjacent properties, public infrastructure, pedestrians, and construction workers at every site.He further warned that strict legal action will be taken against violators, including the registration of FIRs, sealing of properties, cancellation of building plans, and the imposition of substantial penalties. He directed the LDA to ensure strict enforcement of all applicable building regulations and safety laws without exception.Secretary Housing Noor-ul-Amin Mengal stated that, in accordance with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, protecting the lives and property of citizens during the monsoon season remains the Government of Punjab’s highest priority.
