ADB Environment Safeguards Mission visits Rawalpindi Water Supply project under the DREAMS-I

A two-day ADB Environment Safeguards Mission was successfully conducted to review the ongoing environmental compliance and safeguard measures under the DREAMS Project.

The mission team comprised Miss Shazia Shahid (Mission Lead), Mr. Abdul Hadi (Environment Specialist – ADB), Tayyaba Akhtar (Environment Management Expert, DREAMS-I), and Waqas Afzal (Deputy Director Safeguards). On Day 1, the team visited the Integrated Water Supply System Chahan Dam site, where they participated in a detailed presentation, capacity-building session by the ADB team, and a site inspection to assess ground-level implementation. On Day 2, the mission reviewed the Replacement of Conductance Main from Rawal Lake & Water Supply Augmentation in KSS, including a briefing on project progress, a field visit to the contractor camp and distribution network, as well as a concluding debriefing session at the WASA office chaired by MD WASA, Mr. M. Saleem Ashraf. The Environment Management Expert and Deputy Director Safeguards also briefed the mission on key ongoing activities across both projects. The ADB Mission highly appreciated the commendable efforts of the Safeguards Team and Project Leadership for their strong commitment to environmental safeguards and sustainable service delivery.
