Lahore, November 08, 2024 (Ali imran chattha) Lahore High Court Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza has adjourned the further hearing of the contempt of court petition against the provincial capital Shadman Chowk not being named after Bhagat Singh till January 17, 2025. This petition has been filed before the Lahore High Court by Imtiaz Rashid Qureshi, Chairman Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation, through Khalid Zaman Khan Kakar Advocate.
The district government, DC Lahore Rafia Haider, Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman and Administrator City District Government have been made parties in the petition. The petition states that on September 5, 2018, Justice Shahid Jamil Khan of the High Court issued instructions to the concerned authorities to take steps to name Shadman Chowk after Bhagat Singh, but the court orders have not been implemented yet. Today, during the hearing, the City District Government Lahore filed a reply in the contempt of court case and made serious allegations against freedom hero Bhagat Singh and declared him a criminal. And declared him a terrorist and accused petitioner Imtiaz Rashid Qureshi of receiving foreign funding regarding Bhagat Singh Chowk and doing all this for his own specific purposes.
