We are pleased to share that a successful learning and exposure visit to the Sherpur Village Pond was conducted under the WASH program for Government Officers from across Pakistan. The purpose of the visit was to promote innovative wastewater treatment solutions, particularly the bioremediation of sewage ponds through floating wetlands treatment.

The visit commenced with opening remarks and a briefing by Usama Zahoor, Deputy Program Officer, who provided an overview of the Floating Wetland Treatment Project and acknowledged the vital support of UNICEF in making the initiative possible. A detailed presentation on the technical aspects and implementation of the project was delivered by Mr. Ammar Anwar, Program Officer, and Mr. Hamza Tariq, Program Officer.The delegation included Mr. Usama Khalid from Peshawar UNICEF and Mr. Abdullah from Lahore UNICEF, both WASH Officers, whose active participation and insightful feedback further enriched the learning experience and emphasized UNICEF’s continued commitment to promoting sustainable WASH interventions across Pakistan.The exposure visit offered an excellent opportunity for interprovincial knowledge sharing and highlighted the impact of nature-based solutions in addressing water and sanitation challenges.
